Questions - Which God Is Sovereign?

The following questions relate to the sermon on 16 June 2019, Which God Is Sovereign?  The primary scripture is Daniel 1:1-7, focusing on verses 6-7.

1.  In what circumstances have you found yourself in which you believed you were treated unjustly or were in a bad situation over which you had no control?  Maybe someone in the group would like to tell about this kind of situation.

2.  What did you do?  How did you respond?

3.  When Nebuchadnezzar took the best young men from a country he conquered, why did he have them enrolled in training of Babylonian literature and language?

4.  The four young men from Judah were given new names in Babylon.  Why were their names changed?

5.  How do you control what names people call you?

6.  Even though the young men submitted to education and a name change, what evidence do we find in chapter 1 about their perception of faith and identity?

7.  How are language, terminology, or names changed today in the U.S. to try to redirect our thinking?  In what kind of circumstances might it be right to change terminology?

8.  Even in circumstances outside our control, who controls our response?  Who controls our identity?

9.  How do we get out from under the circumstances?
