Questions - Train Your Brain
March 8, 2020, 3:55 PM

These questions are meant to encourage discussion related to the sermon on 8 March 2020, Train Your Brain.  The primary scripture is Philippians 4:8-9, but there were several scriptures mentioned.

1.  What is your favorite method of training your own mind?  (reading, scripture memory, meditation, brainwashing, yoga, YouTube???)

2.  Children's Sunday School and the Children's message on March 8 both were about controlling ANTs - Automatic Negative Thoughts.  What kind of negative thoughts commonly try to infiltrate your thinking?

3.  How do you confront and control those thoughts?  Captain Snout recommends superpower questions.  (see Captain Snout And The Superpower Questions by Daniel Amen, M.D.)

4.  Is it natural to automatically have negative thoughts when we make a mistake, or sin, or face trouble?  How does Paul suggest we train to control those thoughts, specifically in Philippians 4:8-9?

5.  How do people learn to recognize counterfit currency?  How do we apply the same principle to training our minds?

6.  How does Romans 12:2 relate to our topic?

7.  How does 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 relate to our topic?

8.  What other scripture helps us learn to train our brains to think about the right things?  It is God's will according to Paul.

9.  What are some absolute truths on which you rely and rehearse?
