Questions - Fruity Praying
June 10, 2018, 3:22 PM

These questions are meant to relate to the sermon presented on 10 June 2018, Fruity Praying.  The primary scripture is John 15:7.  This topic is in a series, and to some degree it relies on the previous lessons; however, the questions are hopefully useful for personal reflection and group discussion.

1.  What new ideas do you have in regard to producing spiritual fruit?  Maybe it would help to define "spiritual fruit" for yourself or as a group.

2.  If you have not read John 15 recently, please do so.

3.  Verse 7 is a conditional statement.  What are the conditions, and what is the promise?

4.  Read these related verses about praying:  John 14:13-14; John 15:16-17; John 16:23-24.  What does it mean to ask in Jesus' name?

5.  What elements of these sayings should affect how we pray?  What changes does your praying need?

6.  Did these promises mean something different to the apostles than they mean for Christians today?

7.  What is the primary purpose of prayer?

8.  Read 1 John 3:21-24; 1 John 5:14; James 4:1-3?  Do these writings change your understanding?  If so, how?

9.  Consider also: Psalm 37:3-6; Psalm 119:9-11.

10.  Share with the group any other scripture you enjoy related to bearing fruit and praying.

11.  Practice!
