Make The Cross Central

The questions relate to the sermon on January 6, 2019, Make The Cross Central.  The primary scripture is 1 Corinthians 1:1-2:5, and the sermon included introductory information for 1 Corinthians.

1. What is your worst church experience?  (If this is too painful or too personal, maybe group discussion is not helpful.)

2.  Why are churches so disfunctional at times?

3.  1 Corinthians addresses several problems among the believers at Corinth.  What kind of problem is addressed in Chapter 1?

4.  What is Paul's first solution to the problem?

5.  Is unity in the church important?  Why or why not?

6.  What can be learned from this chapter to help address skepticism and doubt related to bad church experiences?

7.  Paul mentioned that faith should rest on God's power rather than human wisdom.  How does that happen in a contemporary setting?  Another way to ask is, how do we access God's power?

8.  What from this scripture, sermon, and discussion will help you be more prepared for your own or another person's faith crisis?
