Who Is He? Palm Sunday - Questions

These questions are meant to relate to the sermon from Palm Sunday, 25 March 2018, "Who Is He?"  The primary scripture is chapters 11 and 12 of the Gospel of John.  While designed primarily for group study, the questions may also be useful for personal reflection during the week.  It would be useful to consider the questions before attending group.  Also, this week you may want to use the reading plan from Sunday's bulletin and also entered into this blog.

1.  Prior to group meeting please read John 11 and consider how the events around Lazarus affected what happened on Palm Sunday before answering the following questions.

2.  Why were so many people outside of Jerusalem, on the road to Bethany, on Sunday morning?

3.  Why did they wave palm branches and hail Jesus as King of Israel?

4.  Who was the group simultaneously trying to kill Jesus and what was their reasoning?

5.  Which prophet's words were fulfilled by Jesus riding into Jersusalem on a young donkey?

6.  Prior to group meeting, please consider at least one other gospel accounts of Palm Sunday.  Matthew 21 includes Jesus clearing the temple.  Mark 11 tells about a fig tree.  Luke 19 includes a rather nice quote of Jesus regarding rocks having voices.

7.  Your group may be meeting for this discussion on Easter morning.  Reserve time for people to discuss their spiritual journey through the week as they prepared for Resurrection Day.
