Christian Fellowship

These questions relate to the sermon on 7 October 2018, Christian Fellowship.  The primary scripture is 1 John 1:1-7.  The brief message is based on the theme that fellowship (koinonia) is compulsory for disciples of Jesus.

1. Consider the definition provided from Tyndale Bible Dictionary. "Christian fellowship is communion with God, which results in common participation with other believers in the Spirit of God and God's blessings."

2.  Read 1 John 1:1-7.  Identify similarities to chapter 1 of the Gospel of John.

3.  "...which we have seen...looked at...touched..."  Who saw, and who was seen and touched?

4.  What is John's reason for stating these things?  (v. 3)

5.  Where does Christian fellowship begin?

6.  According to John, how is fellowship among believers affected by fellowship with God?

7.  How does this principle of fellowship cause us to approach broken relationships among believers? (mending fences)

8.  What fences (relationships) do you need to mend?

9.  Discuss how the act of the Lord's Supper portrays the vertical and horizontal relationships of which John wrote.

10.  How many churches are there in South Taylor County?
